Getting a new puppy is always exciting and most of us just want to cuddle this cute little bundle of fur. It would be lovely if this were enough to keep them healthy and disease free forever but unfortunately it isn’t. Just like human children, animal babies also need immunisation when they are very young.

Stages

  1. Age 6 to 8 weeks - Dog Vaccinations. *DAPP Vaccination (Distemper Vaccine)-This vaccine protects against Canine Distemper Virus, Canine Adenovirus types 1 & 2, Canine Parainfluenza Virus, & Canine Parvovirus. Starting at 8 weeks of age, the vaccine requires 3 boosters 3 weeks apart.
  2. Age 14 to 16 weeks - The rabies vaccine is a vaccine used to prevent rabies. There are a number of rabies vaccines available that are both safe and effective. They can be used to prevent rabies before, and, for a period of time, after exposure to the rabies virus, which is commonly caused by a dog bite.
